Importance of Posture
Do you want to look 10kgs lighter without shedding a drop of sweat or forcing yourself to drink carrot juice?
Then hold your head up high and keep your shoulders back because nothing accentuates an unwanted pot belly like saggy posture.
If your Mum was anything like mine, you probably still have her words ringing through your ears constantly saying “Stand up straight and don’t slouch!”.
The reality is that good posture prevents muscular pain (particularly around your neck) reduces the exposure to arthritis and ensures that your joints remain aligned.
When you let your posture sag, you’re giving in to gravity while, at the same time, putting unnecessary strain on your body.
That discomfort you feel after sitting at the office all day – that could escalate into chronic back pain. In fact, you could even develop persistent headaches and breathing problems.
If you have normal joint motion, average flexibility and muscles that can hold you up. You have all the right things needed to maintain excellent posture.
A few daily tips –
- Get up, move around and stretch. If you’re in the office all day, stand up every time you take a phone call.
- Always try to keep the body in alignment while sitting in a chair and while standing.
